I’ve been quietly envisioning, sketching, designing, and researching for this blog for a while now, but the first post is still a little scary.

About me…
I’m Jessie. I work full time as the in house graphic designer for The Synergy Company. You can find my independent artwork for sale at TriSerifTops on Etsy. Occasionally I do freelance invitation and stationary design, custom jewelry design, album artwork, gig posters, and a lot of artsy crafty projects in my free time. I grew up in very rural Massachusetts, and now live in Nyack, NY with my husband, Scott, Jobin the dog, and Tuna the cat.

Why I’m starting Crafty Whatnot…
I love reading blogs about cooking, crafting, graphic design and typography. I’ve blogged casually for years on Blogspot and Tumblr, but a while ago decided it was time to take a more serious stab at it. I live a very handmade/DIY lifestyle and finally, here, have a home to share that with more people. The creative blogging community is a passionate & motivated group of people that I can’t wait to be a part of. Crafty Whatnot is designed to feel like a comfortable place to hang out, so I hope that’s how you feel here. The colors are literally inspired by our living room—inviting oranges, reds and yellows with some warm green accents (like the plants and cacti we’ve got near the windows)!

What to expect…
DIY Tutorials: Home décor, fashion, adorable crafts. Sewing, paper craft, textiles, party planning. I’ll strive to make each post fun for beginners and experienced crafters alike.

Nail Art: I’m a sucker for adorable DIY nail art. Its 10pm, I can’t sleep and need something to do, I paint my nails. Always. So get ready for nail art tutorials.

Vegetarian Food: I’m passionate about vegetarian cooking and simple recipes. I don’t develop many of my own recipes, but I do like to experiment a bit. Those adventures will wind up here for sure.

Inspiration: TONS of inspiration. Photos, color palettes, works of art.

Artist Features: Eventually I’d love to feature other artists and bloggers. If you’re interested in a feature about your artwork, an event, or a guest post please contact me.

And more: I’m leaving lots of room for things to evolve and grow, so many more themes will develop as Crafty Whatnot expands.

I hope over the next few days, months, and years you stick with me on this little adventure as I grow Crafty Whatnot into everything it’s meant to be. Contact me with suggestions, comment with your own spin on posts, and get involved. I look forward to welcoming you all into my life more and more along this journey!
