At the recommendation of a friend, I participated in the Handmade Gift Exchange for the first time this holiday season, and I loved it! The Handmade Gift Exchange is organized by Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous. After you sign up for the exchange, you are randomly paired up with another crafter in a pen pal style exchange, meaning you make a gift for the same person who makes you a gift. You are able to message back and forth to your partner to find out their style, likes, or things they need. I was paired with Wendy from WA: she likes aqua, red and gray, collects holiday ornaments, and loves a night in at home. Knowing this I embroidered her a holiday ornament, hand-sewed a lavender sachet and coasters in some colored patterns I thought she’d like, and sent her some of my hand printed thank you cards in her favorite colors.
I told Wendy I liked typography and she sent me this beautiful reindeer names wood art, which fit right in with all of my Rudolf holiday decorations!
I had such a great time with the exchange, Craftaholics Anonymous is hosting another exchange this summer and I will definitely be signing up!
